Schluter Arrival Procedures
Doors open at 7:20 AM. For your child’s safety, no students are allowed to be at school before 7:20 AM unsupervised.
Our school start time is 7:40 AM. Students should be in their seats and ready to learn at the 7:40 AM bell.
After 7:40 AM, all students must enter through the front office, marked as tardy.
Breakfast will be served in the cafeteria from 7:20 am -7:35 am.
The back doors will be closed at 7:40 at which time students will need to enter through the front.
Arrival Expectations
Car Riders
The back driveway is for car riders in the mornings. Beginning at 7:20 AM until 7:40 AM, school personnel will be at the back of the school to assist students as needed getting out of the car.
For safety reasons, drivers should not exit their vehicle for any reason.
Parents should stay in line and pull all the way to the front of the line to drop off your student.
Please do not leave children unattended until school personnel have arrived and back doors are open.
After 7:40 AM, you will need to drop off your child at the front of the building.
Students should be ready to exit the car on the curbside upon arrival.
Students should not be dropped off in the parking lot. If desired, parents may park in a parking spot, not in the car line, in the front of the building. Students then can be walked across the crosswalk with a parent/guardian to the front doors.
Bus Riders
The front driveway is for bus and daycare arrival and dismissal only.
Walkers & Bike Riders
Doors do not open until 7:20 am.
Bikes should be parked and locked on the designated bike racks in the front of the school.
We are not responsible for lost or stolen bikes. Please make sure that bikes that are ridden to school are locked up properly.
Please utilize crosswalks and crossing guards for your safety.
Schluter Dismissal Procedures
Walkers and bike riders will only be dismissed out either the Primary or Intermediate exits. Students are not dismissed out of the main entrance doors.
Parents are asked to fill out the DISMISSAL FORM at the beginning of the year so staff can help students dismiss properly each day.
Bus riders and Daycare bus riders will be dismissed directly to the bus under staff supervision.
Alphabest students will be dismissed directly to the cafeteria under staff supervision.
Dismissal Expectations
Car Riders
All car riders will be picked up in the back driveway of the school. For safety reasons, drivers should not exit their vehicle for any reason.
When entering the car line, parents will form two lines. Please make sure that once you have selected a line, you stay in that line until you have picked up your child.
A Schluter orange dismissal card on the front dash that details the child’s name and grade should be visible. These will come home with students on the first day of school. Visibility of the sign will assist us in providing a quick, safe and smooth dismissal process.
After the first day of school, if you do not have a sign, you will be asked to go to the front office to pick up your student there. This ensures that all students are leaving with a designated car giver.
In an effort to keep the line moving efficiently, students will need to enter the car and buckle themselves into their seat. If you need extra time or to assist your student, inform the staff member with your student and they will direct you to a safe, designated area to do so.
Car riders will not be released to the car line after 3:10. At 3:10, the entrance to the back of the school will be blocked off with cones and cars will need to go to the front of the school.
Walkers & Bike Riders
Primary doors will dismiss out of our 1st grade hallway and walk out Mesa Crest Drive towards the neighborhood park.
Intermediate doors will dismiss out of our 4th grade hallway and walk out Prairie Breeze Drive. This is where crossing guards are located.
Please specify Primary or Intermediate doors if your child is a walker or bike rider. This helps staff to dismiss them appropriately inside the building.
Bike riders are dismissed directly after buses have left the driveway and are followed by walkers.
Students will not be allowed to cross the driveway if being dismissed from the Primary doors. This is an active bus crossing with no crossing guard.
If picking your child up by car, they must be a car rider. Please do not use walker dismissal for car pick-up and refrain from parking along the street in the front. This is for the safety of all students and staff.
