Arrival and Dismissal

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures 2018-2019

Carl E. Schluter Elementary

Our school start time is 7:40 am.  Students should be in their seats and ready to learn at the 7:40 am bell.  After 7:40 am, all students must enter through the front office, marked as tardy.

For your child’s safety, no students are allowed to be at school before 7:15 am unsupervised.

Ride changes must be requested prior to 2:00 pm.

There will be no early dismissal after 2:30 pm.  This is due to an increase in the amount of traffic and for the safety of your child.

The doors will open at 7:15 am and students will go straight to class or to their club activities.

Breakfast will be served in the cafeteria from 7:15 am -7:35 am.

Car Riders

The back driveway is for drop-offs in the mornings.  Beginning at 7:20 am until 7:35 am, school personnel will be at the back of the school to assist students as needed getting out of the car.  Please do not leave children unattended until school personnel have arrived and back doors are open.  After 7:35 am, you will need to drop off your child at the front of the building.  Vehicles should stay in a single line.  Students should be ready to exit the car on the curbside upon arrival.

Bus Riders

Bus riders enter through the front of the school.  Doors open at 7:15 am, students will be able to walk to their class or club activities.

Walkers need to enter through the front of the school.  Doors do not open until 7:15 am.

Car Riders

All car riders will be picked up in the back driveway of the school.  Parents should stay in a single line.  Teachers will supervise students’ departure.  Please have a Schluter hanging tag on the mirror that details the child’s name and grade.  Visibility of the sign will assist us in providing a quick, safe and smooth dismissal process.

Walkers will only be dismissed out either the West or East doors of the school.  Please specify East or West doors exit if your child is a walker.

Bus Riders

Bus riders are the only students who exit out the front doors at dismissal.

An email, office phone call, or note must be provided for a ride change.  Emails can be sent to prior to 2:00 pm.

For emergency dismissal changes, notify the office at 817-698-3900 by 2:00 pm if your child’s usual afternoon dismissal has changed.

No dismissal changes will be accepted after 2:00 pm.  If you are checking your child out of school early (early dismissal), please check him/her out before 2:30 pm.  No early dismissal after 2:30 pm.

Thank you for your help in following these procedures so we can provide a safe environment for all children.
